Meeting news

The United Methodist Women (UMW) meet at 11am the first Thursday of each month, September through May. Please bring a sack lunch - coffee and dessert is provided by the hostess of the month.

The UMW met Thursday, April 5, and elected offices. Phyllis Olson will continue as President as well as Pat Steffer as Vice President. Betty Rowe will be Secretary and Bev Johnson Treasurer.

Bev Johnson and Jeanne Exline will serve as program co-chair.

Pastor Max also offered support in this area.

Outgoing Secretary Helen Linder and Treasurer Shirley Norberg were thanked for their many years of service.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

On April 7,2005, the UMW meeting featured the story of prayer shawls, which are knitted or crocheted for people who are in a time of need. Jeanne Exline and Denise Gordon, daughter-in-law of our dear Maxine Gordon, presented the story of the Prayer Shawl Ministry to the women of EEUMC. Denise contributed the yarn and needles for 10 shawls in honor of Maxine. The completed shawls will be given to members of our congregation who are ill, grieving, or experiencing sadness. If you are interested in crafting a shawl, talk to Shirley Norberg, Phyllis Olson, or Jeanne Exline, and they will help you get started.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be an on-going project for the UMW and others who wish to participate.
